National Security Advisor John Bolton, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, CIA Director Gina Haspel, Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis, and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and so many like them remain deeply implicated in the path the country took in those years of geopolitical dreaming.
