“Our democracy is designed to speak truth to power.”
Mobilizing grassroots action in order to speak truth to power is our mission at Peninsula Peace and Justice Center. And we think it’s fair to say that no other local organization does it better or more consistently. In this era when we find ourselves confronted with one fabricated crisis after another, it is essential to have a community-based, grassroots organization that stands ready to respond to each outrage by helping to unite and raise the voices of the people.
That’s how nearly 1,000 people came to speak truth to power in the wake of recent threats to the Mueller investigation (pictured above). PPJC mobilized a similar sized crowd to protest the Administration’s inhumane immigrant family separation policy. The list goes on, of course, as we responded to a wide range of issues.
“I was quite amazed and grateful at how organized PPJC’s operations were at such a moment’s notice. Kudos!” A local activist after the Mueller emergency response demo
PPJC’s value to the progressive community extends well beyond emergency response protests, of course. We firmly believe that democracy must be engaged in every day. That’s why we organize so many educational forums, including our popular monthly forum and TV show, Other Voices. And that’s why we send out Urgent Action Alerts, which have generated thousands of letters and petitions to our elected representatives.
Your continued support helps ensure that PPJC is able to stay on high alert. If you donate now, your gift will be doubled, thanks to a generous $2,000 matching fund challenge from one of our long time supporters. We remain grateful for your past support and, with your new gift, we look forward to being here for you – and for peace, justice, the planet, and human rights – for a long time to come.
