Third Friday of Every Month

On the third Friday of every month, people from all walks of life and all parts of the country have committed to stop business as usual and take action to end the travesty of the US occupation of Iraq. Wear a black ribbon.  Don't buy gas.  At noon, stop whatever it is you're doing and stand silently for a few minutes.  Talk to a neighbor.  Phone Washington.  Do something to end the war.

This page will list all the moratorium activities taking place in the Peninsula/South Bay region.  If you would like your event listed, please send the details to moratorium@peaceandjustice.org

At 5:30 pm, we convene at the south end of Old County Road,  Rockaway Beach, and walk over the headlands  to Pacifica State Beach.  We will then have a ceremony at the Eyes Wide Open installation,  where we will name the Bay Area fallen, alternatively with a name of an Iraqi fallen in this war.  After each name we will ring a bell.  To conclude, there will be brief remarks and prayers by veterans and clergy and the Eyes Wide Open installation will be removed.

A moment of silence.
Corner of Embarcadero and El Camino
11:30 am - 12:00 noon

Join this simple action to acknowledge the war in Iraq:  STOP AT 11:30am on September 21 - wherever you are - for 2-3 minutes - and remember the war, pray for peace, read a poem, look at a picture of an Iraqi child, or a US soldier, or your own loved one, ask why - and what you can do to stop the war.  If you can, Multifaith Voices for Peace & Justices invites you to join us at the corner of Embarcadero and El Camino from 11:30-12noon with signs, pictures, prayers, as we line the streets for peace.
