Peninsula / South Bay Peace Procession Connecting our communities for peace Friday, October 19
A procession of vehicles—cars, hybrids, electric vehicles, bicycles—will travel the length of the Peninsula, starting from points north and south, to symbolize the unity of all of our local communities in saying, "Troops out now!"
Decorate your vehicle with signs and black ribbons (provided at the starting points) to let our neighbors know that we all stand together in trying to end the disastrous occupation of Iraq.
We will follow El Camino Real, the original route that connected all of our local communities. El Camino is also a vivid reminder of the devastation brought upon the indigenous population as a result of colonialism, a devastation that is being repeated in Iraq today.
Please help us plan this action effectively. If you plan on attending, let us know by emailing us at moratorium@peaceandjustice.org or by calling 650-326-8837. If you don't own a vehicle and would like to ride along, or if you want to carpool with someone for the procession, let us know using the same address or phone number.

Leafletting at Caltrain Stations We had great success in reaching commuters on September 21st, the first Iraq Moratorium day. We gave out leaflets and black ribbons at Mountain View, California Avenue, Palo Alto, Redwood City, and San Carlos. We got a lot of support from train riders and all those who participated agreed to continue on October 19. We want to extend our efforts from San Jose to San Francisco. Already San Mateo and Hillsdale will be included, and possibly Belmont and Burlingame.
This effort requires two people (or four where there is also a bus depot) to distribute the leaflets and ribbons between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m.
Let us know if you can leaflet a station near you. Please call Elaine at (650) 796-5866 or email her at eephoebe@hotmail.com
The Iraq Moratorium will be an escalating monthly series of actions demanding an end to the war. Starting on Friday, September 21 and on the third Friday of every month thereafter, we will take the time to show our President and Congress that our troops must be brought home, now! Sign the pledge!
